Register a domain name which clearly identifies your business. If you can't get the exact name of your company, you need something that's easily remembered by customers because it has some association with your name. And then you need a place to host your site.
You wouldn't start putting up walls of a house without having a plan, and a website is exactly the same. Map out all your main pages, what you're going to put on them, what sub-pages you might need. Think like a customer who's never been to your site.
If you've already got material such as a company logo and company colours you're well on your way to a design. The key is to always keep it simple. Unless complicated graphics is crucial to your business/organization goals, the cleaner and more open your design, the better.
So you've got a nice, clean, easy-to-read site, but what are you saying on those nice, clean, easy-to-read pages. Is it concise, focussed, and well-written? Writing good copy isn't easy, but there are some basics you should never overlook.... like spelling. There's nothing more destructive to your image than someone coming across a speling error. It ruins your credibility in an instant.

» What is the difference between domain registration and domain hosting?
Hosting is the actual location of your website's files. A domain name (www.yourcompanyname.com) tells the world where your website files are hosted.
Hosting companies provide website hosting and domain registrars do the domain registration. You may get hosting and domain registration through the same company (like BraveNewNiche! :-) ), but they are separate functions. You could keep your domain name through company A and move your hosting to company B, for example.
» How much server space do I need?
It all depends on what you're doing with your site. If you have a lot of large video files, for example, and you expect a lot of people to be downloading them, then you'll need lots of server space and lots of bandwidth or traffic (the amount of downloading per month). But for a typical 5 page business site with a few graphics, you wouldn't need more than 50 MB of space. Server space is very inexpensive these days, so generally you'll always have far more than you'll need.
